A man accused of shooting at a home and damaging a car in Glenburn had his first court appearance Monday afternoon.

Three men allegedly shot guns at a Danforth Drive home and a car outside of it on Sunday afternoon in Glenburn, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said.

One man, Raphael Cupidon, 22, of Massachusetts, appeared in Penobscot County court Monday afternoon. He is charged with one felony count of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, which is a Class A felony, and two misdemeanor counts of refusing to submit to arrest.

Cupidon did not enter a plea, which is standard in felony cases. It will be presented to a grand jury, which will decide whether or not to indict Cupidon.

A witness told police that around 3 p.m. Sunday multiple people started yelling about coming out of the house and she heard “pops” that sounded like a gun being shot, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office report. The woman told police she didn’t know why they were there.

Nearly all the windows on the woman’s car were smashed and all four tires were cut, the report said.

Deputies started responding to the scene and came across a pickup truck and motorcycle in the area. The truck did not slow down, despite Deputy Cameron Fowler already having his lights and sirens on, Fowler’s report said.

The pickup driver appeared ready to drive head-on into a sheriff’s patrol car, but the deputy was able to avoid the crash, the report said. The police chase was faster than 100 mph as deputies in two different cars continued the pursuit down Davis Road.

The driver of the truck slowed at the intersection of Finson and Davis roads and two people jumped out, the report said.

A police dog was used to help track Cupidon, who allegedly fled from the truck. He was found under a mobile home and arrested, other police reports in the file said.

Fowler continued after the fleeing pickup truck, and speeds were at 79 mph and above.

The chase eventually stopped near Lakeview Road and Midway Lane. The driver of the truck, who police said was 36-year-old George Overlock of Carmel, got out of the car and Fowler drew his gun and told Overlock to show his hands, the report said. Overlock grabbed a black bag from the truck and ran toward a house.

Fowler tried to stop Overlock from getting into the house but was unsuccessful. Overlock got into the house and the deputy fired his Taser, which shocked Overlock and stopped him, the report said.

Overlock refused to listen to Fowler, who told Overlock to roll onto his stomach. The deputy then sent another shock through the Taser. After that didn’t work, Fowler pressed the Taser directly against Overlock, the report said.

Fowler was able to roll Overlock onto his stomach and Overlock tried to grab the bag he brought into the house, saying it was left by the two men who jumped out of the truck, the report said.

Overlock was arrested and taken to the hospital, where he is being treated for an unrelated infection, according to the report. Overlock did not appear in court Monday.

He is accused of aggravated drug trafficking, possession of firearms by a prohibited person, refusing to stop for law enforcement, aggravated criminal mischief, criminal speeding, driving to endanger, refusal to submit to arrest or detention, burglary, operating after habitual offender revocation and violating conditions of release.

Multiple shell casings were found in Overlock’s hospital bed, the report said. Fentanyl was found in the bag and truck, as well as various pills, the report said.

Police found a key card to a hotel and searched the room, where they found suspected drugs and an identification card for a man from the Dominican Republic, the report said.

Rosie, a 9-year-old English mastiff, escaped from the house Overlock allegedly broke into, the report said. The dog had not been found as of Monday.

Cupidon was granted a $10,000 cash bail, which he had not posted at time of publication.
