Bar Harbor’s town office is closed the rest of the week after hackers infiltrated its network.
The hack happened on Wednesday, according to the town.
The town government has “full control of all systems, and removed access from the bad actors.”
But the town office will be closed Thursday and Friday as officials work with cybersecurity professionals to assess its network and “ensure a safe and quick return to normal business for the residents of Bar Harbor.”
That comes after Bar Harbor’s school department was targeted in a fraud scheme to divert money meant for a contractor. Authorities froze the fraudulent account where the money was diverted. Town officials did not disclose in March how much money was diverted.
