I cannot watch another news story in which the camera shows children with empty bowls standing in a chaotic crowd of people jostling to get to the front to get a little food. How do children stand a chance of having their bowls filled? And then, in the next clip, to see a child kneeling and screaming beside the dead body of his father who had just been killed by the “warning shots” from the Israeli military is more than I can bear.
Over 1,000 people have been killed at the “humanitarian” food distribution centers sponsored by the U.S. I know I risk being called antisemitic when I say that I know with every fiber of my being that what is happening in Gaza is a crime against humanity. Innocent people in Gaza are dying of starvation because Israel won’t let food in.
I want this to stop, and I feel horribly ashamed that my tax dollars are supporting this situation. I do not support what Israel is doing, and I seriously doubt that most Americans do either. It is not antisemitic to see this as an atrocity.
I fear that history will judge us for what we are allowing to happen. I feel so helpless. Who is there to appeal to? A non-functioning Congress? A president who seems to have no compassion or respect for the humanity of all people? Am I alone in this feeling of despair?
