
Five people were arrested over the past week and a half following an investigation into drug trafficking at two Searsport residences.
Early in the morning on Thursday, July 17, search warrants were executed at 7 and 11 Dead Brook Lane, where undercover drug purchases had been made by members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
Following the undercover purchases officials arrested Daniel Carchide, 43, of 7 Dead Brook Lane, charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs; Christopher Babb, 27, of Bronx, New York, charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs; and Izaiah Cooper, 27, of Bronx, New York, charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs.
Around 17 grams of suspected cocaine base and $3,700 in suspected drug proceeds were seized during the search of 11 Dead Brook Lane.
Two teenagers who were found at 11 Dead Brook Lane were placed into Department of Health and Human Services custody.
Over the next several days, officials learned that 36-year-old Alyssa Heroux, the owner of the 7 Dead Brook Lane residence, had been reportedly selling illegal drugs from that address. Members of the MDEA participated in a number of undercover purchases, and were able to secure another search warrant for the 7 Dead Brook Lane address.
Early last Friday, officials searched the residence and identified Heroux of Searsport and Mujaredeen Hassan, 35, of Bronx, New York, who were both taken into police custody. Around $9,300 in suspected drug proceeds, along with approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine were seized during the search of 7 Dead Brook Lane, according to Moss.
Heroux has been charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs along with several arrest warrants, while Hassan has been charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs.
Carchide faces a $500 bail, while Babb’s was set to $2,500 following his first court appearance. Bail for Hassan was set at $10,000. Bail was not allowed for Heroux.
Carchide, Babb, Heroux and Hassan are awaiting court appearance dates at the Waldo County Jail. Cooper was able to make the $500 bail and was released.
