Rescuers found a woman who was injured and lost in the woods in Carmel on Sunday afternoon thanks to a dispatcher guiding a sheriff deputy to her location over the phone.
The Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a 911 call at around 2:05 p.m. from the woman, who indicated she was severely dehydrated, suffering from a head injury and lost, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Using geolocation technology, the dispatch center found where she was located based on her 911 call, and a “well-trained dispatcher” guided the deputy to the woman, according to the sheriff’s office.
Along with the sheriff’s office, the Carmel Fire Department responded and helped carry the woman to safety, where she received medical care.
