ELLSWORTH — The City of Ellsworth and Heart of Ellsworth invite residents and community members to roll up their sleeves and take part in a Downtown Clean-up Volunteer Day on Friday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet at the Franklin Street Parklet from 9 a.m. for task assignments before spreading out to tackle key projects across the downtown core.
This event is a collaborative effort between the Heart of Ellsworth Design Committee and the City of Ellsworth aimed at enhancing the appearance and health of downtown’s public spaces through weeding, litter removal, watering, and general tidying. The initiative helps prepare Ellsworth’s downtown to enhance our historic district to encourage visitors and residents to stop and enjoy the downtown.
“We’re proud to partner with the City’s Public Works team on this effort,” said Karin Otto, president of Heart of Ellsworth. “This event highlights the spirit of partnership between local government, volunteers, and our organization’s design committee to foster a clean, attractive downtown for residents, businesses and visitors alike.”
“One of the things that makes Ellsworth such a special place is the way our community shows up — not just in big moments, but in smaller and meaningful ones like this,” said Charlie Pearce, city manager of Ellsworth. “When volunteers, civic organizations and city staff come together with a shared commitment to keeping Ellsworth beautiful and welcoming, it sends a clear message – we take pride in this place, and we take care of it together.”
To help us plan for tools, refreshments and logistics, we kindly ask that all participants sign up in advance at https://forms.gle/JrGeQEvnVhGKpFzT6.
Volunteers should be prepared to work outside and are encouraged to bring water, sun protection, gardening gloves and weeding tools.
This is a great opportunity for neighbors, students, civic groups, and businesses to come together and contribute to the care and charm of Ellsworth’s downtown. All are welcome.
