On Monday, June 14 the Mainely Spinners presented a $4,096 donation to Sarah’s House of Maine as their contribution from the International Back to Back Wool Challenge.
This was the total amount that the team earned selling raffle tickets on last year’s competition sweater, as well as many items that the team members knit and crocheted. Many items were made from hand spun yarn. Marion Kitchen was the winner of the 2024 competition sweater that was produced by the team last year.
The Mainely Spinners just received notification that they won the 2025 Brigadoon Trophy for having the highest fundraising total of the twelve teams that competed world wide. A total of over $18,000 was raised by all teams for cancer charities worldwide in 2025.
Mainely Spinners participated in the 2025 International Back to Back Wool Challenge on May 17 and achieved their second best time of 12 hours, 16 minutes, 22 seconds to finish a sweater from sheep to wearable sweater on May 17. The International Back to Back Wool Challenge goals are to promote wool world-wide and fundraise for cancer care.
The Mainely Spinners team has started making plans for their next International Back to Back Wool Challenge and fundraising.
