Brittany Cartwright is speaking out after the news that her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, will not be returning to The Valley for season 3.
“I found out the night before and I was like, ‘That was a great decision by everyone,’” Brittany, 36, said on the Tuesday, July 22, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
Brittany’s Valley costar Zack Wickham also weighed in, telling host Andy Cohen, “I want him to get better at the end of the day. I hope he does put in the work this time. Don’t fake it. Actually do the work.”
Us Weekly broke the news on Wednesday, July 16, that Jax was stepping away from the Bravo show for the upcoming third season.

“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” the 46-year-old said in a statement. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”
Jax and Brittany share their son Cruz, 4, who has made rare appearances on The Valley since the show premiered in March 2024.
The former couple, who wed in 2019, initially appeared on Vanderpump Rules before departing from the show in 2020. Fans have continued to watch the ups and downs in Jax and Brittany’s relationship unfold as new episodes of The Valley’s second season continue to air.
Brittany filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024 after five years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
Viewers watched as Jax checked himself into a rehab facility for his mental health struggles during The Valley season 2. The Bravo star has also admitted to having a cocaine addiction. Jax has since been candid about his sobriety journey, telling Andy Cohen during a Watch What Happens Live appearance last month that he undergoes regular drug tests.

“I have my therapist do it when I go into therapy, it was kind of the deal,” Jax said at the time. “I don’t have to do that legally, but … you know what, I want to be held accountable. Brittany has drug tests at the house, you can drug test me any time you want.”
He also explained that drugs aren’t his “issue” at the moment.
“I’ve got a lot of other issues that I’ve got to deal with,” Jax said. “My ego, my anger, my control, my manipulation, all these things.”
