New details are emerging regarding the deaths of American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and husband Thomas Deluca.

In a Monday, July 21, town hall meeting, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said that the suspect reportedly shot the pair with their own gun that he found inside after breaking into the home, according to CBS News.

The accused man then called the police on himself, per ABC7 Los Angeles. Hochman said on Monday that the suspect used his cellphone to call authorities and provided his name, according to the outlet.

As residents worried about the crime in the neighborhood, LAPD Deputy Chief Marla Ciuffetelli said, “We’re having phenomenal numbers on crime reduction. That being said, when two wonderful people end up dead in their own home, those crime statistics fall kind of flat,” per the outlet.

Authorities were called for a welfare check on Kaye and Deluca after they had not been heard from in “several days.” When authorities entered the home, they discovered Kaye and Deluca’s bodies with possible gunshot wounds. Kaye and Deluca, who were both 70 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene.

“While there were no signs of forced entry or trouble at the location during that investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door,” read a statement from the LAPD. “The victims returned home while the suspect was inside their residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives.”

The statement continued, “The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.”

Suspect Arrested for Murder of ‘American Idol’ Music Supervisor Robin Kaye

The LAPD later confirmed that it arrested 22-year-old Encino resident Raymond Boodarian as a suspect. The suspect was identified “using the surveillance video at the residence, as well as some other forensic evidence at the scene,” Lt. Guy Golan told CNN. Authorities were also called to Kaye and Deluca’s home four days prior to investigate a possible burglary.

In the wake of Kaye and Deluca’s death, an American Idol spokesperson paid tribute to the late couple. “We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” the statement read. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
