The Boston University women’s soccer team added a new member to its staff amid an external review into harassment allegations.

Alex Thompson, who played for BU for two seasons from 2021 to 2022, was announced as an assistant coach last week.

“I am so excited to join the program once again,” Thompson said in a statement on Thursday, July 17. “It is an honor to be able to coach such an awesome group of women as well as to work alongside and learn from an intelligent and joyful coaching staff.”

Thompson joins the staff before the team begins its 2025 season on August 14.

Alex Cooper Reacts to Claims Former College Coach Masturbated to Game Tape

“We are so excited to welcome Amy back to BU,” Boston University head coach Megan Burke said. “Her energy, work ethic and pride for this program will make her a tremendous addition to our staff. She is someone who truly understands what it means to be a Terrier.”

Burke was promoted to head coach in January after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach.

Her promotion came after former Boston University women’s soccer head coach Casey Brown was placed on administrative leave midway through the 2024 season and formally resigned in December.

Brown’s resignation came after the university commissioned an investigation into complaints of harassment from 18 players, according to a June report in the Boston Globe.

In a statement to the Globe, Brown “strongly” denied the allegations. Us Weekly has reached out to BU for comment.

“At the conclusion of the investigation, there were no BU policy violations and no evidence of sexual harassment,” BU told the Globe in a statement. “Nevertheless, BU and Brown parted ways, and Brown is no longer the head coach.”

Brown became head coach after the 2022 departure of Nancy Feldman, who had a 27-year tenure as the inaugural head coach of the Boston University women’s soccer team.

Last month, “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper — who played soccer at Boston University under Feldman between 2013 and 2015 — accused her former coach of sexual harassment.

In her documentary Call Her Alex, Cooper, 30, alleged that Feldman began to “fixate on me, way more than any other teammate of mine” during her sophomore year, describing the alleged experience as “confusing.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Feldman.

“It was this psychotic game of, ‘You want to play? Tell me about your sex life,’” Cooper said of one alleged incident. She also claimed that Feldman told her, “I have to drive you to your night class. Get in the car with me alone.”

In a statement to Us Weekly on June 13, a Boston University spokesperson said, “Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student well-being and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office. We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.”

Weeks later, however, the school announced an “external” investigation would be launched into the athletics department amid all of the allegations.

According to a statement, the investigation will “seek a new outside review to make recommendations about ways to enhance the athletics department’s current policies, processes and best practices to further strengthen support for student well-being and procedures for addressing issues as they arise.”
