Former Bachelor Matt James shared the surprising amount he pays in rent on his luxury apartment in New York City.
James, 33, appeared in a Wednesday, July 16, TikTok video with real estate influencer Caleb Simpson, who requested a tour of the former Bachelor’s abode.
In the since-deleted clip, James revealed to Simpson that he pays approximately $5,500 on rent each month.
James has rented an apartment in Manhattan long before he was the star of The Bachelor. He famously lived with his best friend and former college roommate, Tyler Cameron, who now resides in his native Florida with girlfriend Tate Madden.

“Congrats to my brother @mattjames919 on being named the Bachelor. This is all a testament of who you are as a person,” Cameron, now 32, wrote via Instagram in 2020. “Now the world gets to see the person you are and the heart you have. You can change the world. Proud of you and so excited for you. Not excited that somebody will be taking my spot as your snuggle buddy.”
James found love with Rachael Kirkconnell on his season of The Bachelor, going on to split time between NYC and Atlanta, where she is based. James ultimately broke up with Kirkconnell, 28, earlier this year.
“Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts,” James wrote in a January social media statement, which was posted after a fight with Kirkconnell when she was leaving their joint trip abroad. “Give us peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 
.”
A source later told Us Weekly that the pair’s breakup had been “brewing for a while.”

“It was a long time coming,” the source exclusively told Us. “Matt just couldn’t commit to her. Rachael really wanted to get married and settle down and they were not on the same page. She felt like she was waiting around, and he would never give her what she wanted.”
James has since been focused on healing.
“I think you got to lick your wounds for a little bit first, and then you gotta put yourself back out there,” Cameron told Us in May when asked about setting James up on dates moving forward. “We’re still early.”
Cameron further stressed that James is doing well regardless.
