July isn’t even half over, and Netflix already has a new hit mystery series, Under a Dark Sun.
In this French thriller, Ava Baya plays Alba Mazier, a young mother who only learns of her link to the wealthy Arnaud Lasserre (Thibault De Montalembert) after he’s murdered. And now she’s the prime suspect.
Netflix has a handful of similar series that are very much in the vein of this show.
That’s why the Watch With Us team has selected three shows you need to watch if you like Under a Dark Sun.

‘The Perfect Couple’ (2024)
It seems like almost every streaming service gets its own Nicole Kidman-led series. In The Perfect Couple, Kidman plays a wealthy novelist, Greer Garrison Winbury, with Liev Schreiber as Greer’s husband, Tag Winbury. But they aren’t the titular perfect couple. That dubious honor goes to their son, Benji (Billy Howle), and his bride-to-be, Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson).
Amelia has a lot of reservations about marrying into this rich family, especially after a member of the wedding party ends up dead. Greer will do almost anything to protect her family’s darkest secrets, even if it means shielding a murderer among them. If the truth ever comes out, the Winbury family and everyone around them may pay the price.
The Perfect Couple is streaming on Netflix.
‘Secrets We Keep’ (2025)
You’ll probably need to keep the subtitles on to fully appreciate the Danish thriller Secrets We Keep, but it’s thematically very similar to Under a Dark Sun. An affluent woman named Cecile (Marie Bach Hansen) comes to regret not helping a poor au pair, Ruby (Donna Levkovski), who was working for her neighbors. Ruby tried to tell Cecile that something was wrong, and now she’s gone missing.
I Can’t Stop Watching Netflix’s Popular New Thriller Show — and Neither Will You
Cecile is one of the few who find it very suspicious that Ruby disappeared while leaving her belongings and money behind. So she’s going to upset the neighborhood’s status quo by asking some very uncomfortable questions about what happened to Ruby. And only a handful of law enforcement officials have any interest in helping Cecile get real answers.
Secrets We Keep is streaming on Netflix.
Dept. Q (2025)
Dept. Q doesn’t share the same themes of class warfare as the other two shows on this list, but it made our list because it’s easily Netflix’s most compelling mystery series in recent memory. Leap Year’s Matthew Goode leads the cast as Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, a nearly broken man who is swept away by his fellow police and consigned to Department Q to investigate cold cases that aren’t expected to go anywhere.
Morck may not be the man he used to be, but he’s still a hell of an investigator. The further Morck gets in his backlog of cases, the closer he comes to discovering the fate of Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie), an ambitious prosecutor whose story unfolds in flashback.
Dept. Q is streaming on Netflix.
