The Bangor Historical Society will host a screening of “Christine” in the Mount Hope Cemetery on Aug. 20th, at 8 p.m.
The 1983 film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel from the same year centers around a 1958 Plymouth Fury named “Christine” that exerts mysterious powers, inspires obsession in its owners and acts on its own, sometimes murderously, to protect them.
The film version of “Christine” is set in California and doesn’t have any cemetery scenes, but King, a longtime Bangor resident, is rumored to have taken the names for two characters in his novel “It” from tombstones at Mount Hope Cemetery, and scenes from a film adaptation of his “Pet Sematary” were shot there.
Plus, cemeteries are spooky.
Advance tickets are required for next month’s screening of “Christine.”
Bangor Historical Society members will have the first chance to buy tickets starting on Tuesday, July 22 at 1 p.m.
Tickets for the general public will go on sale Thursday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at a link on the BHS website that will be added that day.
