KENNEBUNK – Animal Welfare Society presents Woofstock Food & Beer Festival, Southern Maine’s premier family-friendly, dog-friendly festival. Woofstock will be held Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on AWS’ campus at 46 Holland Road. Woofstock takes place rain or shine. The festival is free to attend due to the generosity of business sponsors, including presenting sponsor Maine Veterinary Medical Center.
New this year: off-site parking with complimentary shuttle transportation. With support from Kennebunk Savings, festival attendees can park in designated lots and take a comfortable, dog-friendly shuttle bus to and from the Festival. Satellite parking lots are located at the Middle School of the Kennebunks (60 Thompson Road, Kennebunk) and Kennebunk Savings Operations Center (7 Alewive Park Road, Kennebunk). Parking details and directions can be found on AWS’ website. There will be no attendee parking on-site on Festival grounds or along Holland Road (apart from those with handicap/disability placards).
The festival’s live music is brought to you by June and the Honey Badgers (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Kris Hype (1–3 p.m.). Both musical acts generously donate their time to the event. Seacoast Oldies, the festival’s media sponsor, provides additional tunes. Nearby, a bounce house, face painting, lawn games and temporary tattoos entertain youngsters. For craft beer enthusiasts, attendees purchase four ounce tasting tickets in the Beer Garden. In addition, food trucks provide ample food and dessert items for sale for the duration of the Festival.
One of the biggest highlights of Woofstock is the vendors! Dozens and dozens of makers, crafters, sponsors and area nonprofits have booths offering giveaways or prizes and selling everything from pet-related products to artisanal wares. Many also offer services available to the local community. In the expanded Vet & Pet Services Zone, local pet supply shops, pet services enterprises like dog groomers and day cares and local veterinary practices showcase their products, provide fun giveaways and give demonstrations of their services.
Finally, as a dog-friendly festival, activities for our canine friends include a dog parade, cooling pools and an indoor agility course, held inside AWS’ Canine Training Classroom. Activities are open to dogs of all ages and abilities.
Woofstock is generously presented by Maine Veterinary Medical Center and brought to you by media sponsor Seacoast Oldies, transportation sponsor Kennebunk Savings and Dog Chill Station sponsors Maine Community Bank and Mainely Veterinary Dentistry. Furthermore, sponsoring at the “Dapper Dog” level are Arctic Ice, Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation, Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza & Craft Beer, Garrett Pillsbury, Proscape Irrigation and Treworgy & Baldacci. “Cool Cat” sponsors are Cross Insurance, ElleVet Sciences, Go Net Speed, Harvard Pilgrim, Kennebunkport Resort Collection, Mail-It Unlimited, Norway Savings Bank, Renewal by Andersen, The Daily Sweat and Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital.
