An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting that killed American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a 22-year-old Encino resident, Raymond Boodarian, was arrested in connection with the double murder that took place on Monday, July 14.

A press release from the LAPD confirmed that authorities were dispatched for a welfare check after Kaye and Deluca, both 70, had not been heard from “for several days.” Authorities discovered their bodies after entering the home, and they were pronounced dead on the scene.

“While there were no signs of forced entry or trouble at the location during that investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door,” the release reads. “The victims returned home while the suspect was inside their residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives.”

It was believed that the suspect fled the house on foot before his arrest.

The LAPD report also reveals that police investigated a possible burglary at Kaye and Deluca’s home four days before their deaths. Authorities believe that this is an isolated incident, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Us Weekly confirmed on Tuesday, July 15, that two victims were found dead with possible gunshot wounds within their home. Authorities did not confirm Kaye and Deluca’s identities at the time.

“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” an American Idol spokesperson told Us in a statement on Tuesday. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Kaye worked in American Idol’s music department for more than a decade prior to her death. According to IMDb, she held other TV-related jobs including the Miss Universe pageant and the NAACP Image Awards. Deluca, meanwhile, was signed as a solo musical artist.

Kaye discussed her job during the 7th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards in 2017, calling it a role in Hollywood “that people don’t even know it exists.”

“It’s a very important part of films and TV,” she added. “Pretty much everything in the entertainment industry has music in it and people just think that it’s there.”
