A Maryland man who has been accused of murder was arrested in Maine recently.
Ja’bril Roynell Walters, 31, was arrested in Auburn, according to Ryan Guay, a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service. Walters was wanted on warrants issued in Maryland that include first-degree murder, second-degree murder, the use of a firearm in a violent crime and five counts of first-degree assault.
The warrants were issued in July 2024, officials said. During the yearlong search, Maryland officials believed that Walters was living in Maine under an alias.
Maine’s violent offender taskforce gathered information on Walters’ whereabouts while searching the Durham, Lewiston and Auburn areas. Walters was located at an Auburn residence, and was taken into custody with help from the Lewiston Police Department.
Walters has been charged as a fugitive from justice, and will be extradited to Maryland.
