Before becoming one of country music’s most beloved couples, Hartman Black was an actress best known for her role on Knots Landing. In 1990, Black and Hartman Black began quietly dating and they got married the following year.
“I knew I was looking at somebody amazing,” Black said of meeting Hartman Black during a March 2025 interview with People. “I didn’t know anything about her. I didn’t know her TV show. I just looked at her eyes and I was just, wow!”
