Three people have been arrested after police busted a Down East drug trafficking ring.
George Pickard, 35, of Franklin; Kathryn Christensen, 32, of Gouldsboro; and Sharod Nunes, 46, of Lewiston have been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The arrests came after a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking across Hancock and Washington counties.
On Wednesday, agents were surveilling an Ellsworth motel when they spotted Pickard leaving on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
After stopping and searching him, police raided a room at the motel, seizing in total about a half pound of cocaine, more than a quarter pound of fentanyl and about a third of an ounce of crack cocaine, along with $12,930 in suspected drug proceeds, the MDEA said Thursday morning.
The drugs were worth an estimated $36,000.
Pickard, Christensen and Nunes were taken to the Hancock County Jail, where they were being held without bail.
