ROCKLAND, Maine — The Wicked Adventure Redemption center on Park Street has closed.
The business announced the closure June 26 on its Facebook page. The business cited a few reasons for the decision to shut down.
“Over the last three years we have employed nearly 80 different people, and interviewed a bunch more for a business that employs six to seven people at a time. We have had some great employees and some employee stories that you wouldn’t believe,” the post started.
“We have bags full of needles coming in our doors constantly and no matter how many signs we put up and how often Rockland PD comes, our team still has to deal with the danger it poses,” the notice continued.
“It has been important to us that we provide a great level of service, treat people kindly and fairly, and make our redemption center a place people don’t dread going to. It has been harder and harder to accomplish these goals with a revolving door of staff, bags of needles, and other challenges that come with running a small business. We understand that it is a needed service in the area. For a good part of the year we take in 20,000 to 30,000 bottles per day. We help with a lot of local fundraising, and we are hopeful that the other redemption centers will continue to help those we have worked with. We appreciate all of the wonderful people and organizations that have supported us, but this was the right choice for our family. Thank you all,” the post concluded.
The location has had a redemption center for at least seven years, according to assessment records.
The property is owned by Adventure Properties LLC which is owned in part by Dale Landrith.
