Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty’s cause of death has been revealed.
The pop superstar’s father died on May 30 from cancer, pneumonia and other serious serious illnesses, TMZ reported on Thursday, June 26.
According to the outlet, a death certificate for the singer’s father listed causes including acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer and aspiration pneumonia. Other causes included acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis.
Fenty died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last month after a short illness, TMZ reported at the time. He was 70.

Fenty shared Rihanna — real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty — and two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad, with his ex-wife Monica Braithwaite. He also had three children from previous relationships: Kandy, Samantha and Jamie.
Rihanna, 37, had an often tumultuous relationship with her father. She sued Fenty in 2019, claiming that his Fenty Management talent company was capitalizing on her own Fenty Beauty brand and other trademarked businesses using the Fenty name.
“She is? Suing me? Why would she sue me? It’s my name!” Fenty told OK! at the time. “She’s never going to sue me — I’ll have to fight it!”
Rihanna filed to dismiss the lawsuit in September 2021.

The “Diamonds” singer and partner ASAP Rocky, 36, recently broke the news that they are expecting their third child together. The couple share sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 23 months.
Rihanna debuted her baby bump just hours before the 2025 Met Gala on May 5 and confirmed her pregnancy on the red carpet.
“I’m good. I’m shockingly feeling OK and not too overwhelmed at the moment,” the Grammy winner told Entertainment Tonight. “I mean, at first it was kinda like, ‘Ah!’ And I’m tired, but then I’m excited.”
Rocky, meanwhile, shared with the Associated Press: “It feels amazing, you know. It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know.”
Rihanna has previously opened up about her desire to have a large family.
“[I’ll have] as many kids as God wants me to have,” she shared in an April 2024 interview with Elle. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course, if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
