Immigration agents arrested three people at a Bangor restaurant on Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson for U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations has confirmed.
The HSI-led “worksite enforcement operation,” was conducted with the help of U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Houlton Sector “and federal partners,” according to the spokesperson, who said the officials executed a federal Rule 41 search warrant at the Kobe Ninja House Restaurant at 829 Hogan Road.
“Three employees were encountered, interviewed and arrested for immigration violations and subsequently detained pending removal,” the spokesperson said.
Border Patrol agents wearing masks, helmets, bulletproof vests and sunglasses while carrying guns were spotted outside a white passenger van at the restaurant.
Other agents carried boxes of items out of the front door of the restaurant at roughly the same time.
The spokesperson refused to release the names of the people arrested or disclose where they were being held, citing the ongoing investigation.
