Police arrested a Massachusetts man on Wednesday in the Piscataquis County town of Greenville after he allegedly led them on a multi-town chase.
At about 9 p.m. the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office got a call that a man had taken his friend’s vehicle and was driving while intoxicated, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
A deputy spotted the vehicle on Route 15 in the town of Abbot headed toward Monson and turned on his lights and siren but the driver continued north, speeding up and driving “erratically” through the towns of Monson and Shirley, according to the sheriff’s office.
Greenville police set up spikes, but this did not stop the driver, according to police. The department set up more spikes further north, which the vehicle crossed, continuing onto Lilly Bay Road to Beaver Cove where it finally stopped because of damage, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police arrested the driver, Edward Goodwin, 30, of Marshfield, Massachusetts, and brought him to the Piscataquis County Jail, where he was charged with eluding a police officer, operating under the influence, driving to endanger, criminal speeding and driving without a license.
