Roca Azul, a new Mexican restaurant from the owner of Las Palapas, is now open more than a year after the space was leased.
The restaurant is on Odlin Road in the location of the former Ground Round, which closed suddenly in January 2024.
Owner Eriberto “Eric” Guzman initially expected only a few months of work to open the restaurant, but plans were delayed when he discovered the space needed to be rewired, adding additional work and expenses.
Roca Azul will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Las Palapas announced the opening on Facebook on Tuesday. Guzman declined to comment on the restaurant’s opening.
The new restaurant is Guzman’s third, joining the first Las Palapas near Bangor Mall and the second location on Wilson Street in Brewer. He has previously said that the Roca Azul menu will be similar to Las Palapas’ offerings but with some new drinks and dishes.
