A New York man was arrested on Monday and accused of two counts of drug trafficking following a monthslong investigation in Oakland.
Brandon Seegars, 26, of Bronx, New York, was taken into custody after attempting to flee police by jumping out of the window of a 65 Lakeview Drive residence, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Wednesday. Maine State Police, along with Oakland and Waterville police officers, executed a search warrant at the residence following a two-month investigation.
After Seegars was taken into custody with the help of two Waterville K-9 agents, a search of the residence turned up 650 grams of cocaine HCL, a salt form of the drug that has medical uses. Officials also found 13.2 grams of cocaine base, 20.9 grams of fentanyl and around $3,674 in suspected drug proceeds.
Seegars has been charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs. He is also on federal probation for a Hobbs Act Crime stemming from an armed bank robbery in New Jersey, Moss said.
Seegars has been transported to the Kennebec County Jail. His bail has been set at $75,000, and is awaiting an initial court appearance date.
The investigation is ongoing.
