It’s very rare when a new sci-fi show debuts on HBO or Max, and there aren’t any fresh options in June.
Fortunately, Max has the complete four-season run of Torchwood to fall back on, even the season that was originally produced for Starz. This Doctor Who spinoff largely stands alone from its parent series, but that show is also on Max for anyone who wishes to watch both.
HBO and Max are also the streaming home for His Dark Materials, a terrific three-season sci-fi/fantasy series that came to an end in 2022.
