Amanda Bynes is hoping to lose more than 40 pounds with help from Ozempic.

“I’m going on Ozempic. So excited,” the former actress, 39, shared in an Instagram Story video update on Sunday, June 22. “I’m 173 [pounds] now, so I hope to get down to 130, which would be awesome.”

Bynes said she is trying weight loss medication “so I look better in paparazzi pictures and you don’t see my double chin from strange angles” and vowed to share more updates on her “Ozempic journey.”

Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide, a GLP-1 medication developed to improve glycemic control in people with type 2 diabetes. In recent years, semaglutide has also been prescribed to help people struggling with their weight to improve their health.

Celebrities Who’ve Spoken About the Ozempic Weight Loss Trend

Bynes opened up about her weight loss journey in November 2024 via her Instagram Story, detailing exactly how much she weighed at the time.

“Down 6lbs! 154lbs now 😱,” Bynes captioned a screenshot of her day’s total step count, also revealing that she had burned “481/320 CAL” that day and walked a distance of 6.6 miles. Bynes’ step count clocked in at 14,895, while her flight count totaled 12.

As a result of the former child star’s fitness efforts, her workout goals for the day were officially met, confirmed by the large red circle displayed at the top of the screenshot.

Bynes followed up the Instagram Story with a video of herself walking down a street, wearing dark sunglasses and a black beanie, which seemed to offer a glimpse of her day’s fitness achievements.

Amanda Bynes’ Ups and Downs Through the Years

The health update came after Bynes revealed in March 2024 that her mental health struggles had impacted her weight. Bynes shared via Instagram Stories that she had “gained over 20 lbs” over several months “from being depressed.” She wrote, “I’m doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean.”

Bynes also revealed via the post that she weighed “162 lbs” at the time and wanted “to get back to 110 lbs.”
