We Were Liars’ Harris Sinclair (David Morse) is not a fan of Cadence (Emily Alyn Lind) and Gat’s (Shubham Maheshwari) budding love story, it seems.
Episode 6 of the Prime Video series, titled “When Lies Give You Lemons,” follows the Sinclair family in Summer 16 during their annual lemon hunt. Harris hides 200 lemons and one lime on the property, and whoever finds the lime gets a prize. This year, the person who finds the most lemons wins his Boston house and whoever finds the lime will own Beechwood after his death.
Tensions rise among the always-competitive Sinclair family as they fight for the prizes. However, an extra layer is added to the game when Gat’s mom, Maya (Karen David), makes a surprise appearance to the island — for the first time.
After Gat finds the lime (“Harris had it the whole time”), the Liars come up with a plan to combine all their lemons, so he has no choice to be deemed the winner. Harris, refusing to give someone outside the family his estates, puts Gat up for a prestigious scholarship which would allow him to travel the world — separating him from Cadence and Beechwood.

Cadence, in present day (Summer 17), is still determined to get answers. So, she takes the boat from Beechwood to the mainland for access to a laptop. When her memory is triggered, she has an episode in the bookstore. Elsewhere in the episode, Cadence wakes back up in her bed in Beechwood after dreaming about being on a date with Gat and getting no closer to finding out what happened to her.
Back in Summer 16, Gat decides to try for the scholarship. He and Cadence share a tearful goodbye. When he returns to the mainland, Maya reveals that her arrival on the island wasn’t a surprise after all. Harris called her to remind Gat that he was “too happy” on Beechwood.
After a talk with his uncle Ed (Rahul Kohli) about what it’s like to fall in love with a member of the Sinclair family, Gat decides to return to Beechwood and forgo the scholarship. (Ed admits he does not regret his relationship with Mamie Gummer’s Carrie.)
When Gat attempts to take the water taxi back to Beechwood, he’s stopped as “emergency boats only” are allowed on the Island, hinting that something may have happened to one of the Sinclairs.
