DAMARISCOTTA — River Arts in Damariscotta invites artists to submit work to a juried show “Land & Sea”. This popular summer show draws broadly on the Maine landscape. The deadline for entry is Saturday, July 5 at 4 p.m. The theme “Land & Sea” is open to personal interpretation by the artists and may include realistic as well as abstract works. All media including but not limited to painting, sculpture, fiber, photography, ceramics, original printmaking, drawing, encaustic and pastel may be entered.
River Arts is pleased to share that well known Maine artist Ammi Bai Chung will be the juror for “Land & Sea”. Bai Chung is a multidisciplinary artist based in Wiscasset. Bai Chung trained at the Maine College of Art, where she studied ceramics, painting and photography. Her work has centered on vibrant, expressive painting, drawing from art history, color theory and a deep sense of spiritual joy.
Artists may enter either two pieces with a size limit of 24 inches including frame or one larger piece with a size limit of 50 inches including frame. For members, the entry fee is $15 and for non-members, it is $30. River Arts retains a 35 percent commission on sales. Artwork to be considered must be delivered in person during regular business hours. Entry forms are available in the gallery or on the website at www.riverartsme.org.
An opening reception will take place Saturday, July 12 from 2-4 p.m. The show will run through Aug. 16.
