Aaron Parsons of South Paris was sentenced up to 16 years in state prison Thursday for the killing of Sarah Dorany in 2020, according to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
Parsons, 47, pleaded guilty on May 30 to manslaughter and engaging in sexual conduct for a fee. After 14-16 years in prison, he will serve three years of probation.
Parsons and Dorany met online. The two met up at a restaurant in March 2020 and later went to a hotel room that Parsons had booked. Parsons left the hotel after about three hours, and two days later, Dorany was found unresponsive in the room with a pillow covering her face.
Parsons told investigators he didn’t remember anything from that night after going to the restaurant bathroom.
The medical examiner ruled Dorany’s cause of death mechanical asphyxiation. She was 29 at the time of the killing.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Parsons fled to Maine after committing the crime. He was arrested at his home in August 2020.
