Summer in Maine means eating outside on a beautiful day, and if you’re looking for a restaurant with a view, we’ve got you covered.

After the Bangor Daily News ran a guide featuring eight Maine restaurants with scenic views, readers came forward with more suggestions for other beautiful eateries around the state.

We’ve rounded up six more recommendations from BDN readers that will offer you opportunities to take in Maine’s beauty while enjoying some excellent food.

The Farmhouse Beer Garden, Farmington

The Farmhouse Beer Garden in Farmington is a converted farmhouse restaurant that opened in 2020.

The eatery offers outdoor seating overlooking the hills of western Maine and serves pizza, appetizers and a variety of craft beers.

The business also offers event opportunities that start with lunch at the farmhouse, and then takes visitors to Intervale Ranch to interact with highland cattle.

Hours are seasonal, and may change week by week, so check out the business’ Facebook page for updates on hours of operation.

Located in Round Pond near Pemaquid, Muscongus Bay Lobster advertises “fresh seafood and a great view.”

The coastal restaurant is a wholesale and retail lobster business, and offers a wide variety of seafood dishes along with a selection of wines and beers.

Its outdoor seating options look out over Muscongus Bay, and the restaurant is located near outdoor entertainment options including hiking trails and the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and historical site. It also has a sister establishment, The Anchor, which is located right next to Muscongus Bay Lobster.

Muscongus Bay Lobster is open Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 8 p.m. The Anchor is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Weathervane Restaurant and Lounge, Readfield

The Weathervane Restaurant and Lounge sits on the edge of Maranacook Lake in Readfield, offering guests a view of the waterfront. Founded in the 1940s, the restaurant grew from Woolcotts Ice Cream and Burger Take-Out to an establishment that serves both dine-in and takeout meals.

The restaurant’s menu is inspired by locally grown and sourced ingredients and includes beef from The Knight Farm when it is available. Menus change seasonally.

The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday, although hours vary from day to day. It is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, according to its Facebook page.

The Old Mill Pub’s historic brick building along the Kennebec River in Skowhegan was constructed in 1909 and overlooks the Skowhegan falls with deck seating outdoors.

The casual, family friendly restaurant offers an assortment of “pub grub” like wings and nachos, along with richer offerings such as steak and steamed mussels. The restaurant also serves wine and beer from various Maine brewing companies.

The Old Mill Pub is open every day except Monday. Operating hours on Tuesday and Wednesday are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. Information about specials and events can be found on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Chipman’s Wharf, Milbridge

Outdoor seating at Chipman’s Wharf in Milbridge that offers a view of Narraguagus Bay.

You can eat fresh-caught lobster and other seafood while overlooking Narraguagas Bay at Chipman’s Wharf. From the restaurant you can watch boats — including some operated by the family owners — come in daily to drop off softshell and hardshell lobsters and other seafood seasonally.

You can also purchase live lobster from Chipman’s Wharf to cook at home if you’re unable to get to Milbridge. Lobsters are packed in an ice pack-filled cooler and shipped overnight to arrive as soon as possible, and is a great option for people missing the taste of a Maine summer.

If you want to eat at Mt. Chase Lodge you will need to place a reservation online, but you will be treated to a locally inspired menu that changes seasonally. Guests staying at the lodge will also have the option to add meal reservations for their planned stay.

The dinner reservation includes a meal that will serve three courses, with guests expected to be seated by 5:30 p.m. Make sure to check the restaurant’s website or Facebook for menu updates.
