Love Is Blind alum Lydia Velez Gonzalez is mourning the end of her marriage to Milton Johnson.
“Our beginning was truly magical, it was a love story that you read in books, and it felt like a fantasy, a fairy tale. As I write this, people aren’t aware that I asked to go our separate ways, not because I don’t love you but because our love story has come to an end,” Lydia, 33, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 11, sharing a montage of photos with Milton, 26, throughout their relationship. “As tears roll down my cheeks, the part that hurts most is the part that saw the potential of what could be, but your last words to me spin around at night, taking over my sleep and spirit.”
She added, “I never ever wished this ending, or any ending, to be honest. I wish I knew the answer to what happened? What made you change? Truly, so I could go back and fix it. When you read these words, you are probably going to be angry at me. You always were when I ‘overshared,’ but this is part of my healing, and gathering back the pieces you broke. No one will ever know the amount of pain as I write this, or all the sleepless nights.”
Lydia and Milton met and got engaged sight unseen on season 5 of Love Is Blind, ultimately getting married in the finale. Just before their third anniversary, Lydia filed for divorce.

In her Wednesday note, Lydia thanked Milton for “choosing [her] as [she] was” at the beginning of their “love story.”
“It is because of that man I saw at the altar that I know what I deserve now,” she continued. “My wish for you is that you find your happiness — that you couldn’t find with me, and I have accepted that. Forever the first man that chose me and loved me for being me!”
Lydia also noted that she “wouldn’t trade” their short-lived romance for anything despite how it ended.

“I wouldn’t change our marriage for anything, forever you have taken a piece of my heart with you,” she said. “I loved you beyond the beyond, and for me, love will always be blind.”
Upon announcing their split, Lydia claimed on Wednesday’s episode of the “What’s the Reality?” podcast that there were “a layer of situations” that led her to file for divorce.
“When I asked him or told him, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know when the divorce papers are ready,’ his response was, ‘I’m not going to sign the papers unless there’s an NDA,’” she told podcast host and fellow Love Is Blind alum AD Smith. “That said, enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience because I’ve been suffering in silence, [which] has been too much for me.”
Lydia alleged Milton “never” complimented her, acted flirtatiously toward other women and wasn’t supportive when she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Milton, for his part, has not addressed any of her accusations. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.
