A police camera captured the moment when a Glenburn man allegedly shot another man in the abdomen earlier this week, according to court records.
Brandon Harvey, 43, was charged Wednesday in Penobscot County Superior Court with elevated aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The shooting happened Monday afternoon, and Harvey was arrested Tuesday night after an extensive search.
A pole camera from Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Homeland Security Investigations captured the shooting, according to an initial police report filed in court. There were also two witnesses outside and two who were inside a home at the time of the shooting.
Harvey “acted recklessly” and shot the victim in the abdomen, the report from Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said. The victim was in critical condition after the shooting and police have not released an update on his condition.
Harvey went to a residence on McCarty Road in Glenburn and asked if the victim was there, a woman who was at the residence told police.
After learning the man was there, Harvey left then returned about five minutes later on a motorcycle, the report said. He got into an argument with the man, witnesses told police. Harvey then shot him in the abdomen, the police report said.
The police camera captured the argument and shooting, according to the police report.
The woman punched Harvey in the face to force him off the property, according to the police report. Harvey was picked up in a white pickup truck.
The motorcycle was still in the driveway while police arrived.
Police found a Glock pistol at the scene, which matched the description of the gun used in the shooting, court records said.
Harvey was previously convicted of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon in 2019 after he dragged a Penobscot County sheriff’s deputy from a moving car to escape arrest. He pleaded no contest to the charge of eluding an officer. Harvey was convicted of theft in 2015, which means he is a felon who is not allowed to own or possess guns, according to the court records.
Harvey is in the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He was granted a $100,000 bail that he has not posted.
