Love Is Blind season 5 stars Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson have broken up just before marking their third wedding anniversary.
“I’m ready to speak my truth. This is not to bash anybody … but I wanted to share with the world,” Lydia, 33, said during the Wednesday, June 11, episode of the “What’s the Reality?” podcast. “I’ve been quiet for too long, not necessarily because I didn’t have anything to speak of, more because I wasn’t ready for other people’s opinions and judgment.”
She added, “I have decided [to] file for divorce against Milton. It wasn’t one thing. It was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling up. When I asked him or told him, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know when the divorce papers are ready,’ his response was, ‘I’m not going to sign the papers unless there’s an NDA.’ That said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience because I’ve been suffering in silence, [which] has been too much for me.”
Lydia and Milton, 26, met and got engaged sight unseen on Love Is Blind season 5 and were the sole couple to tie the knot in the finale. Milton, for his part, has not publicly addressed their separation or Lydia’s claims. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.
Love Is Blind’s Milton Details His Connection to Lydia Despite Age Gap
“At the beginning, everything was beautiful [and] perfect. It was a fairy tale. He showed me the kind of love that I’ve never received before,” Lydia said on Wednesday’s episode. “He loved me for who I was, and that was my premise of being on the show [and] being loved for who I was not and not be called ‘too much.’ Now, I am called ‘too much.’”
According to Lydia, she started noticing little things in her marriage that felt “very disrespectful.”
“He would never compliment me,” she claimed, alleging that Milton never commented on her social media snaps. “He should be like, ‘That’s my woman,’ and [nothing]. … It’s a lot, and then when people around you notice [and] it just kept showing up and showing up.”
Lydia further claimed that when she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in September 2024, Milton was not very supportive.
Milton Johnson Reacts to Claims Lydia Went on ‘Love Is Blind’ for Ex Uche
“Instead of him being my support [system], he told me, ‘You’re not dying. You just have to eat healthy and work out,’” she alleged. “I wanted to [take a] medical leave. I tried to talk to him and request a medical leave [from work] back in October last year and he was, like, ‘F*** no.’ I’m like, ‘But I have to do what’s best for me. I feel burnt out. I need to figure this out.’”
Lydia alleged that Milton “wouldn’t budge” and was thinking more about the “financial aspect” of their life without her income.
“At the same time, I was like, ‘I’m still going to have some [bills to] pay and I’m doing content creation, as well,” she said. “Income is coming [and] we’re going to be OK. … I [told him that] I’m probably not going to be splurging a lot. At that time, he was not even paying my bills.”
Lydia and Milton are not currently in touch, with the geologist telling podcast host and fellow Love Is Blind alum AD Smith that their relationship is “nonexistent.”
“It’s been that way since March 31, the reason being [once] I asked for the divorce, he wanted an NDA,” Lydia said. “After that, he told me … [that I was] stupid and untrustworthy. … I don’t think he loves me because he has given me the silent treatment for the past month. If you truly love a person, you wouldn’t do this [and] you will actually hold yourself accountable.”
