Vanessa Marcil used social media to defend her son, Kassius, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Brian Austin Green.
Marcil, 56, took to Instagram on Tuesday, June 10, to hit back at online trolls who have criticized the 23-year-old. According to Marcil, “Many Christian women … take time out of their thrilling day to tell me that my child is going to hell.”
In the Instagram post, the actress shared a screenshot of one of her received messages, captioning it with a lengthy note which in part read, “I have 100 percent had it with you fake Christians. I know real Christians and I know God. Jesus rejects you and your attacks on innocent and decent children and all marginalized people.”
In October 2024, Green, who dated Marcil for four years before calling it quits shortly after Kassius’ birth in 2003, discussed Kassius coming out as gay. Describing it as an initial “challenge” during an appearance on Lance Bass’ “Frosted Tips” podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, supported his son’s openness.

“It’s been fascinating,” Green, 51, told Bass, 46, during the appearance. “I would get into these conservations with Kash where it was like I really wanted to understand the things that seemed so different to me at first. And then you realize, ‘Oh, this isn’t different at all.’ It’s just your choice of partner. It doesn’t affect me at all.”
In Marcil’s new Instagram post, she shared that some of her own family did not echo the same sentiment as Green. Comparing their criticism with that of online trolls, Marcil wrote, “I have BLOOD family members who do the same, draped in passive aggressive fake kindness.”
She wrote later in the post, “Don’t involve Jesus in your hate. Jesus was a Jew who wore a skirt, had long hair and gave his last bite of food to poor people. I’d say I just feel sad for you but I’m not that mature.”
After Green and Marcil split in 2003, the exes entered into a custody battle over Kassius, publicly criticizing each other for several years. In February, Green criticized Marcil for being absent during their son’s childhood and said that his ex-wife, Megan Fox, stepped in to help raise him.
“Megan and I bust our asses to give Kass a well-rounded childhood since his mom was rarely there,” Green, who met Marcil on the set of 90210 in 1998, wrote in an Instagram Story post at the time. “I’m assuming that’s why she posts so much of him now. When will she just GO AWAY.”

Brian also labeled his past relationship with Marcil as “toxic” during a May interview for his “Old-ish” podcast. “I had some major missteps … The relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. It wasn’t a loving, caring relationship.”
In response, Marcil took to Instagram to share an alleged screenshot of a text exchange with Green which captured the actor complimenting her parenting skills. “Yesterday was his graduation,” Marcil seemingly wrote to Green on an unknown date to which he replied, “You did a really great job. He’s an amazing person :).”
