Buck’s Country Corner opened its doors today and is a “much needed” addition to the community, multiple residents said.
The store replaces Bob’s Kozy Korner at 2 Johnson Mill Road in Orrington which closed in 2023.
The store owners, Maggie Sullivan and Charles Kindya, started renting what used to be Bob’s Kozy Korner in April and spent the last two months getting permits and adding a full kitchen to the shop. The kitchen is used to make hot sandwiches, pizza and Buck’s Bars — ice cream sandwiches made with fresh cookies. The shop expects to expand its seven-item menu to include more hot options soon.
The store has outdoor seating and offers live bait and a tagging station, all efforts to bring community members out to interact with each other, Sullivan said. Small groceries like milk and soup are also available.
Multiple people at the shop on Thursday said it was a needed addition to the community.
Martin Taylor and Heather Hopkins said they’re planning on changing their routine of going to the local Shell station to stopping at Buck’s whenever they need something to support the local business.
“We’ve been waiting for something like this,” Taylor said. “It was long needed.”
The store will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
