Bobby Flay is speaking out for the first time about his new love, Brooke Williamson.
“Well, first of all, I’ve been friends with Brooke forever,” Flay, 60, told People in an interview published on Wednesday, June 4. “I mean, she and I have been friends for a long time and so we shot this show before we started actually officially dating. So it has always kind of been the same for me.”
Flay and Williamson, 46, appear on the new season of BBQ Brawl as a team captain and judge, respectively. The pair previously collaborated on Bobby’s Triple Threat and Williamson has also competed on Beat Bobby Flay.
“She’s been on the show basically since the inception,” he shared. “So it’s always been fun to kind of have her around because we’ve been friends, but now going forward, it’s a little bit different. So we’ll see what that brings.”

Flay noted that he and Williamson have connected on a level deeper than cooking.
“I love working with Brooke,” he said. “We have a lot in common. We’re very lucky. We’re both chefs. We both have kids. We’re both parents.”
He continued, “We are both in the restaurant business. We have tons to talk about in terms of the things that we love to do besides just go and have dinner every once in a while. So it’s been really great. And one of the things I really like about being in a relationship with Brooke is that she’s great to bounce things off of. Like, we ask each other’s opinion about things that we’re doing food wise or restaurant wise or business wise, all the time. So it’s really nice to have kind of a best friend that you’re dating that can also be helpful [with] answering the questions that you have.”

Us Weekly confirmed in March that Flay and Williamson are dating. The next month, the duo were spotted sitting courtside at a New York Knicks vs. Phoenix Suns NBA game. At the time, he uploaded an image of Williamson’s face with the basketball court behind her.
Williamson was previously married to business partner Nick Roberts, with whom she shares a son. The pair separated in 2023, and their divorce was finalized the next year.
Flay, for his part, has exchanged vows three times. He was married to chef Debbie Ponzek from 1991 to 1993 before marrying Kate Connelly two years later. The couple welcomed daughter Sophie in 1996 and separated the next year. Flay married actress Stephanie March in 2005, but the twosome called it quits in 2015.
