Three men were injured Sunday afternoon when their southbound pickup truck veered off Interstate 95 in Carmel and struck several trees.
The crash happened at around 2:48 p.m., when a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Raymond Deroche, 61, of Anson was traveling in the passing lane and went off the road into the median, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
“The vehicle went down a slight embankment and struck several trees causing extensive damage to the front of the vehicle,” Moss said.
Deroche received minor injuries. His passengers, 36-year-old Christopher Stephens and 34-year-old Brad Wheeler, both of Madison, each suffered serious injuries and were entrapped in the vehicle, according to Moss.
First responders extricated Wheeler and Stephens from the wreckage, and all three men were taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment.
The crash happened around mile marker 171.
