In Ellsworth, Maine and all across the country, June is Pride month! Ellsworth Pride, in collaboration with Heart of Ellsworth and Healthy Acadia, will host the fifth annual Ellsworth Pride Fest on Sunday, June 8. This is our opportunity to celebrate and support Pride Month and our LGBTQ+ community.
The Curbside Queens from Portland will return to headline with their family-friendly drag show. Other musical talents on stage include local bands Boy.Scout and Lasers in the Jungle. Attendees can also look forward to a Pet Parade, Drag Queen Story Hour and a free yoga class.
Familiar local restaurants and food trucks will be on hand, selling delectable goodies. Local non-profit organizations will hold the largest Health and Resources fair the festival has seen yet, and merchandise vendors have memorabilia and crafts for sale. Local LGBTQ+ community members and allies are invited to mingle and build connections while enjoying music and activities.
The first Ellsworth Pride Fest in 2021 was inspired by passionate youth voices from Ellsworth High School’s Gender/Sexuality Diversity Alliance. Pride Fest 2021 celebrated the new rainbow crosswalks at the high school and middle school and provided a welcoming and joyful space for LGBTQ+ individuals and local community members to honor Pride month. The 2021 Ellsworth Pride Fest built a new tradition acknowledging the importance of equal justice, opportunity, and expression for and by the LGBTQ+ community, as well as an occasion for all community members to enjoy Pride festivities together. This tradition continues with this year’s Pride Fest.
Ellsworth Pride volunteers are very grateful to this year’s sponsors, which include Hannaford Supermarkets and many other local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Pride Fest 2025 will take place at Knowlton Park on State Street in Ellsworth from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday June 8. The event is free and everyone is invited and welcome.
