A West Baldwin man allegedly robbed a Cornish store at gunpoint in early May.
James Palmer, 42, has been charged with robbery, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, and violating his conditions of release, according to Lt. Aaron Turcotte of the Maine State Police.
Palmer allegedly entered Cornish Market and Variety on Main Street about 8 p.m. on May 6, assaulted the clerk, brandished a gun and forced her to open a safe.
He then fled on foot toward Cumberland Street with about $2,100 in cash, according to Turcotte.
Police identified Palmer, who has three convictions for robbery, as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant on May 20.
Police arrested Palmer on May 22 as he left a Scarborough hotel.
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland, where he was being held on $10,000 bail.
