A bloodhound found a missing 5-year-old girl in a Palermo swamp on Friday.
The girl, who is on the autism spectrum, wandered from her home into the cedar swamp off Rowe Road, according to the Maine State Police.
When the 10-month-old bloodhound Millie found the girl about 5:30 p.m., she was waist deep in the swamp but uninjured, the state police said.
Millie tracked the girl over a third of a mile from her home.
“Millie is only 10 months old, yet she’s already proving herself time and again with her dedication, sweet disposition, and incredible nose,” the state police said.
