On May 14, the New York Times reported that three remarkable experts on the history of fascism are moving their academic careers and their location to Canada due to their serious concerns about the rapid slide to fascism in our dear country.
Rep. Jared Golden sends out a weekly newsletter, mostly about issues such as Freedom for Cars, but does little that I’ve seen to counter the extraordinary danger that is blazing before us now.
On several occasions, I have responded to his newsletter and admonished him to go into the rural 2nd Congressional District and speak directly to constituents, especially those who voted Republican in the past.
I think it is time to ring the alarm bells regarding fascism, loss of Medicaid and rural health care, loss of Medicare, bullying tariffs, along with plans to give a huge tax benefit to the very richest in our country at the sacrifice of the working man and citizens most in need.
I have offered to drive him to town hall meetings, but have not had a reply.
I believe we have reached the point where we should look for the best possible Democrat to replace Jared Golden. If he loses a primary he may run as an independent, and if so, then we will know his true colors.
