President Donald Trump encouraged House Republicans to unite behind the megabill in a Truth Social post Friday morning as some archconservatives have warned of their dissatisfaction with the GOP package.
Republicans MUST UNITE behind, “THE ONE, BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
“Not only does it cut Taxes for ALL Americans, but it will kick millions of Illegal Aliens off of Medicaid to PROTECT it for those who are the ones in real need. The Country will suffer greatly without this Legislation, with their Taxes going up 65%. It will be blamed on the Democrats, but that doesn’t help our Voters.”
Trump fired off the social media post from his return flight to the U.S. after wrapping a 5-day trip to the Middle East focused largely on trade and investment. Trump is now expected to reengage in negotiations and discussions with members of Congress as he seeks to push through the Republican package that faces a key Friday committee vote.
The Trump-endorsed megabill includes priorities like extending tax cuts and altering Medicaid and food assistance programs.
Some GOP hard-liners have voiced their intent to vote against the GOP bill during a Friday House Budget Committee meeting now underway — demanding changes, including more stringent work requirements for Medicaid recipients.
