Demi Moore was adamant about what parts of her body she didn’t want filmed for 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
“All I remember is begging them not to shoot my butt,” Moore, 62, recalled during a Tuesday, May 13, appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I don’t know why that was my obsession.”
Moore starred as Madison Lee in the film alongside talk show host Drew Barrymore, and on Tuesday, the two gushed over their shared memories on the film, which was shot 23 years ago. Barrymore, 50, couldn’t get over the “phenomenon” of Moore’s bikini moment.
Moore recalled having only “three-and-a-half weeks” to prepare for her role.
“I had no time to think about what I looked like, which was almost better,” she said. “I think I wasn’t prepared for the focus that happened from it.”

Moore was referring specifically to her age. She turned 40 while they were shooting the movie and had taken a step back from Hollywood to raise her three daughters: Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. They were the ones who convinced her to take the Charlie’s Angels role — and rock that bikini scene.
“I had taken a break only to be with them,” the actress said. “I stopped and was just with them until they finally were like, ‘You have to do this movie. We love the first one. You have to do this movie. And please, aren’t you going to ever work again?’”
Moore said she eventually realized that she wanted her daughters to know the real her.
“I also realized that I was cheating them out of getting the full expression of who I was by not working, and that that would be an important part of modeling the scope of life,” she continued.
Moore has been sharing stories like this throughout her transformative year following the release of her movie The Substance in September 2024. The actress is coming off this year’s awards circuit in which she received a barrage of accolades, including a Golden Globe and SAG Award.

While discussing the movie — which follows an aging actress who takes a black market drug to appear youthful — Moore explained why she decided to tell such a “powerful” message.
“I placed a lot of value on what my body looked like, as being a defining marker of whether I belonged or not, whether I could succeed or not, all of those things,” she told Today amid the film’s release. “Which, again, is a big part of the theme in the film.”
