Rockland police charged two juveniles Friday evening with felony arson after they allegedly tried to set a house on fire.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m., when police received a call from a homeowner who said they spotted the two and chased them off.
The incident was “targeted and not believed to be random,” according to a statement from Rockland police.
The homeowner knew one of the suspects, and police were able to quickly locate both juveniles.
The younger juvenile, who cooperated with investigators, was issued a summons to appear in court and released to mental health providers. The older juvenile, who was known to police, was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center.
