Meghan Markle Lawyer Addresses Claim Her Bath Salts Caused Burns

Meghan Markle’s bath salt mixture could land the Duchess of Sussex in hot water after one woman claims it left her with “catastrophic burns.”

Robin Powers, a diabetic woman from Maryland, shared pictures of the burns on her legs, which she says occurred in March after she tried the mixture that Markle, 43, shared on her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.

She is threatening a $10 million lawsuit against Markle, Netflix and Archewell Productions, according to a letter addressed to each party and shared with RadarOnline. Powers is also seeking $75,000 to cover medical expenses related to her treatment and for additional money to cover any future expenses stemming from the long-term effects of her injuries.

“These damages account for emotional distress, potential post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), loss of confidence in appearance, disfigurement, shortened life expectancy, and long-term medical care for injuries that may worsen over time,” she wrote.

Most Unusual Things Meghan Markle Makes on Netflix Show

Markle’s lawyer, Cameron Stracher, has since responded to Powers’ accusations, saying she should have been aware of the risk the ingredients posted to someone with an autoimmune disease like diabetes.

“It was not foreseeable that you would disregard the instructions on the Epsom salt packaging in attempting to make and use your own bath salts,” Stracher wrote. “For this separate reason, there can be no negligence claim against anyone involved in the production or distribution of the series.”

Months after suffering the alleged injuries, Powers told RadarOnline that her body still feels like it is ”’burning from within.”

“Since the incident, I have endured persistent burning, discomfort, and the emergence of new blister-like sores and ulcers daily,” she told the outlet in a story published Wednesday, May 7. “These symptoms have disrupted my daily and nightly routines, preventing me from taking warm showers or wearing clothing over the affected areas.”

The Meghan Markle Debate: Why She’s So Polarizing — And Can She Ever Win?

Powers said she watched the clip of Markle making the mixture on X and copied the instructions on her own. She believes Markle and Netflix had a “duty of care” to provide “adequate warnings” of potential adverse reactions.

Powers isn’t the only one who has expressed concern over the possible dangers posed by Markle’s mixture. Esthetician Jennifer Christopherson spoke out in a video posted to her YouTube channel in March.

“I was cringing in this episode,” Chrisopherson said. “The way she’s making it in this episode is the entirely wrong way to go about it. She’s making it in a way that could be very, potentially highly irritating to someone if they use what she made and soaked in it.”

She explained that Markle used too much essential oil in the mixture and did not instruct users to dilute with “carrier oils,” which take away the sensitizing qualities the essential oils have.
