Starting today, Real ID compliant identification is required for boarding domestic flights in the United States, but travelers won’t be turned away if they don’t have one. The Transportation Security Administration has warned people flying who don’t have identification that complies to arrive early and be prepared for advanced screening.
A TSA spokesperson said 98.5 percent of passengers at Portland International Jetport on Wednesday morning had Real ID-compliant identification, which could also include passports and tribal identification. However, as of April 1, only around 27 percent of Mainers had a Real ID compliant driver’s license or state ID, according to the Maine secretary of state’s office.
If you’ve flown without a Real ID compliant identification, we want to hear about your experience in the form below. We will not publish any part of your response without following up, so please provide your contact information. Thank you for sharing.
