An Anson man died Monday afternoon in a crash in North Anson.
Leroy Welch, 79, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer on River Road about 1:35 p.m. when he made a left turn, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.
As he turned, Welch was hit by a 2008 Ford Fusion driven by 20-year-old Olivia Ackerson of Anson as she tried to pass him and two other vehicles behind Welch, the Sentinel reported.
Welch, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
He reportedly had his turn signal on.
The crash remains under investigation, but police believe speed may be a factor.
