Sarah McBreairty, 36, of Dixmont, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor on Monday to 60 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for her role in what the U.S. Department of Justice called a “widespread northern Maine drug trafficking conspiracy.”
From January 2018 and December 2021, McBreairty regularly arranged to to get methamphetamine and fentanyl from an out-of-state supplier through phone calls and texts using coded language. She then distributed the drugs through dealers in Penobscot and Aroostook counties and used the proceeds to buy more drugs from her supplier, according to court records cited by the DOJ in a news release.
Additionally, McBreairty and a co-defendant tried to buy guns from a federal firearms licensee by making false statements, the DOJ said.
She pleaded guilty on March 24, 2023.
Twenty-two people have been charged in relation to the drug trafficking ring. Nineteen have been sentenced, and three are awaiting sentencing, the DOJ said.
