As those who attend the free daily programs offered by the Wilson Center for Spiritual Exploration and Multifaith Dialogue well understand, “A meal shared with a stranger turns them into a friend.”
Without doubt, food is at the heart of community building and the Wilson Center works hard to translate these words into action by hosting a variety of lunches and dinners, including a free Dinner and Dialogue program offered every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. to UMaine students, Orono residents and all those who live in the surrounding communities.
Attended by anywhere from 25-50 people, the preparation for these weekly dinners is truly a labor of love. Due to the center’s inadequate kitchen facilities, food must be cooked offsite and transported to the center in the minutes before dinners are scheduled to take place.
In order to better serve the community, the Wilson Center is hosting a Spring Fling Gala FUNdraiser to help cover the cost of much-needed kitchen renovations.
We invite you to join us for this event, which will include live music, delicious food, song, dance, laughter and friendship on Saturday May 17 from 5-8 p.m. at the Keith Anderson Community Center in Orono, with tickets costing $40 ($20 for students and those on fixed incomes).
Tickets can be reserved at the following link: https://www.ticketleap.events/tickets/the-wilson-center/gala or by emailing [email protected].
From dinners celebrating occasions of importance to the Bangor area’s faith communities and talks featuring a wide variety of speakers to dance classes and meditation circles, the Wilson Center offers a place of refuge and connection — a welcoming space for those who seek to strengthen the bonds of friendship between all people.
In these difficult times, what could be more important than doing what we can to create vibrant, harmonious communities in which people can come together to engage in spiritual exploration and dialogue? We invite you to join us for an evening of entertainment and friendship in support of a worthy cause.
