Traveling for work initially is interesting but can often become wearisome and tiring. That is compounded when issues such as delays and other issues arise.
On one such trip, I had arrived in O’Hare Airport in Chicago after a long week of work waiting for my flight home. A few minutes before we were finally scheduled to depart, I needed to use the restroom.
I entered the bathroom stall with my multitude of belongings and once finished I was walking to the sink. I heard someone say “Sir.” I continued toward the sink, again “Sir” but much louder. I kept walking.
I arrived at the sink and a woman stood within one-foot of me near my right shoulder and yelled even louder “Sir, you are in the wrong bathroom.”
I responded in the same volume and firmly stated (with a couple of expletives) that I was in the correct bathroom and that she should walk away. She mumbled something and scurried away.
She didn’t know me, but she judged me and attacked. No one came to my aid, no one said a word.
What would you do if someone did that to you? Would you come to my aid if you were present? Is this how our transgender citizens feel?
